Make time for silence and hear God’s voice

Old or young, man or woman… we all struggle with time management. We all struggle to keep all the many balls of life in the air. Yet, through all the many activities, the most important thing remains making time for your Creator, your Father. He is the One with whom you truly can and must recharge your batteries. He is the One with whom you regain meaning in life and strength to continue with passion and wholeheartedness.

A researcher proved that to record one hour of silence on cassette in 1968 took fifteen hours. He stopped recording whenever there were sounds: music, radio, television, airplanes, or anything else that broke the silence. To record one hour of silence today would take 2 000 hours. We live in a rushed society, filled and overflowing with noise.

Mark and Patti Virkler wrote the following words about silence:

We must learn to quiet our own thoughts and emotions so that we can experience the thoughts and emotions that God wants to flow through us.

Proverbs 10:22 says:
It is the blessing of the Lord that brings wealth, and your hard work adds nothing to it.

Time is ultimately a gift from the Lord that must be used correctly. A day that has passed in your life is a day you will never get back. Hurry has never been, and will never be, a solution. It only makes you tired and steals your energy. Usually, hurry and noise lead to exhaustion, which can lead to depression. Therefore, be vigilant with the seconds, minutes, and hours of your life.

Phil Anderson writes in his book Running on Empty:
“For most of my life, I have been overwhelmed by the distractions of busyness, noise, and hurry. Now I know that God did not design my life to run on empty.”

He even goes so far as to title one of the chapters in his book: A World Stuck on Fast Forward.

You can rush around and scramble in the world and push forward in its noise. Ultimately, your life is in God’s hands. He wants you, first and foremost, to focus on Him and enjoy Him. He will lead you on paths where you will also enjoy life in abundance. It does not help to toil and focus on the wrong things. It does not help to waste your time by having the wrong priorities. Be still with God, rest in Him, and enjoy life in abundance!
