When your heart longs for home…

Last week, we paused at the wonder of grace. At the cross. At the empty tomb. At the truth that Jesus lives and that we have received new life.

Maybe that new life also brings something else to the surface… a longing.

Because something begins to change when we truly understand the resurrection. Not only how we live, but also what we long for. It is as if something awakens in our hearts, a quiet, deep longing that this world cannot fully satisfy.

The Bible says,
“He has also set eternity in the human heart…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

There is something within us that knows… there is more.
More than this world. More than what we see. More than what we experience now.

As Phil Wickham sings, there is “an ache in my heart… I’m homesick for Heaven.”

Maybe it is not just a feeling. Maybe it is a reminder.
That this is not our final home.
That we were made for something greater.

Jesus says,
“In My Father’s house are many rooms… I am going there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)

We are not just living with a new beginning. We are living with a destination.
A promise.
A home.

And maybe that longing in your heart is not something you need to silence… but something you need to listen to.

Because it reminds you:
you are on your way.
you are not alone.
and this is not the end of the story.

So while we live here, we live with hope.
We hold on when things get hard.
We trust even when we do not understand everything.

Because we know…
there is a day coming when all things will be made new.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes… there will be no more death…” (Revelation 21:4)

Until then, we live faithfully.
We live with eyes that see beyond the now.
We live with hearts that remember where we truly belong.

Because there is a longing within us…
and it is leading us home.
