It Really Is Amazing Grace

We walked together. We paused at Good Friday and once again realized what it cost Jesus, the pain, the sacrifice, the love that kept Him there. We felt the weight of the cross, perhaps newly moved by the truth that He did all of this for us. And then Sunday came, Easter. A day of life, hope, and victory. The tomb is empty. Jesus lives.

And maybe this is where we need to pause for a moment…

Because this truly is grace.

Not something we deserved.
Not something we could ever earn.
But something freely given.

Easter does not only remind us of what happened. It reminds us why it happened. Love. Undeserved, overwhelming grace.

As Paul writes, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is…” (Colossians 3:1)

Jesus did not only die to save us, He rose to give us new life. Not a life we have to try and fix on our own, but a life that flows from grace. A life where we do not have to prove, but get to receive. Where we do not have to earn, but are invited to rest.

“He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)

This is grace…
that the tomb is empty.
that death has been defeated.
that we do not have to remain the same.

This is grace…
that He knows you, and still chooses you.
that He sees you, and still loves you.

As C. S. Lewis says,
“Grace is Christianity’s best idea.”

And maybe that is all we need to remember this week…

This truly is grace.

“I am alive, and you will live also,” says Jesus (John 14:19).
